Happy New Year 2012!
Hi, hope everyone had a great holiday! I know I certainly did. All my holiday shows in Dec 2011 were a sucess, and it's great to spread the holiday cheer through music. In support of my holiday album "Fireplace Christmas Tunes," I played holiday shows anywhere between DC and Philly, with the tour finally ending with a highly sucessfully Church Benefit Christmas show in which we were able to raise about $800 for Cambodians living in poverty! Tis the season for giving.
I'm also glad that my album "Fireplace Christmas Tunes" sold well during my shows. I released that album partly because due to the gradually commercialization of the holiday season; there's been a lot of annoying crappy holiday music, mainly from pop artists, all over the radio and shopping malls. I wanted to record a genuine holiday album that evokes the true feeling of Christmas-time, not just going through Christmas tunes by the number.
Coincidentally, my friend Josh Urban also recorded a holiday EP. He's an electric guitar instructor from Southern Maryland. Check out his groovy rendition of God Rest Ye Merry Gentlemen inspired by his native DC funk/go-go, and his hysterically wacky original Santa is a Communist.
Check out my youtube page if you haven't recently. I've got some live footage from these holiday shows:
Silver Bells @ Carney Assembly of God Church Benefit Show (12-19-11)
So, what does 2012 bring? I'm currently working on my next all original album titled "Gutiar Gumbo," which should be ready in several months. This soulful album features acoustic and semihollow guitars, and although it's rooted in blues and jazz music, the album will be a "gumbo" of various vintage guitar styles ranging from Irish jigs, latin/jazz fusion, mellow and upbeat jazz, and gritty southern Americana music. Preview a few finished tunes here:
Irish Fiddler (Irish jig)
New Orleans Blues- (mellow jazz)
Little Duster- (Chet Atkins inspired country)

4 GREAT Austin Acts touring through the mid-atlantic this winter!
Hey Everyone, just wanted to let you know that 4 GREAT Austin acts will be touring through the mid-atlantic this winter. I've seen each act numerous times, and I wouldn't recommend them to you if I thought these acts were medoicre. This is also a great chance to get a "taste" of the Austin music scene if you've never lived in Austin:
One Eyed Doll- seen them 3 times now, and they're the BEST LIVE ACT I've ever seen, period! A goth-metal band, they have the wildest stage antics and stage persona I've ever seen, most entertaining act i've seen in a while. The singer pours every ounce of soul, emotion, expression, and energy and plays every show like it's her last. She's like Iggy Pop on steriods. Previous OED show I been to, the singer jumped into the audience, tossed a guitar at me, pours water and slaps a guy on-stage, kicks over her drummer's drum kit, and jumps on-top of her drummer. She also huggs ALL over her fans after her show =)
Awesome and HILARIOUS music video: http://youtu.be/1AU_RegFf6o
Tues Nov 29th & Jaxx Nighclub, Springfield VA
Seth Walker- He's a bluesman who sings like Ray Charles, and plays guitar like T-Bone Walker. His soulful music grooves, swings, and makes your foot tap. Must listen to any Ray Charles fan. www.SethWalker.com
Sat Dec 3rd @ Glen Echo Ballroom
Gary Clark Jr.- Nephew of Austin blues legend, W.C. Clark, who wrote the song "Cold Shot" that Stevie Ray Vaughan made famous. he melds old-school blues with a more modern R&B flare. Sounds like Joe Louis Walker, Otis Rush, and Hound Dog Taylor http://www.garyclarkjr.com/
Fri Dec 16 @ 8x10 (Baltimore)
Sat Dec 17th @ Red Palace (DC)
Eric Johnson- Grammy winning guitar virtuoso instrumentalist. His version of instrumental fusion shred-rock melds rock, blues, country, and jazz together. www.EricJohnson.com
Sun Jan 8th @ Birchmere (Alexandria,VA)
Tues Jan 10th @ Soundstage (Baltimore)
